This well loved bronze medal is not only revered for the Miraculous Medal with gives great graces to the wearer, but for the Saint that graces the back.  Saint Jean Thephane Venard was a French missionary to Viet Nam who was martyred in Tonkin in 1861.  His most famous line is "We are all flowers planted on this earth, which God pluck in his own good time: some a little sooner, some a little later.  These words inspired St. Therese of Liseaux who became known as the Little Flower.  He was cannonized in 1988.
