This is a beautiful devotional medal of a favorite Pope, St. John Paul II who was the Vicar of Christ on earth from 1978 to 2005. This medal likely was commissioned before he became a saint in 2011, so it has some age and special significance.  On the back is a picture of The Vatican and St. Peters Square in Rome.  His famous words were "Do Not Be Afraid!
