This is an unusual medal which depicts Our Lady of Montserrat, also known as the Black Madonna in Catalonia, Spain.  She has a religious significance for the Catalan peoples-especially during the Spanish Civil War, during which 22 monks of the abbey were killed.  On the back is a beautiful image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus a reminder of the endless love of Jesus for his people.  A treasure of faith.
