This vintage silver plated medal features Notre Dame de l'Epine which translates to Our Lady of the Thorn, a  pilgrimage site in L'Epine, France.  On the back is the Basilica of Notre Dame de l'Epine.  The basilica's name and devotion are tied to a 15th century legend in which a statue of the Virgin Mary and Child was discovered by shepherds in a burning thorn bush.
